
Each of these diverse environments harbors its own distinct mix of critters and plant life. Offshore in the Atlantic, Right Whales choose Amelia Island for their calving grounds. Each winter, these endangered mammals return to give birth to their next generation, slowly increasing their population with each passing year. The numerous creeks and rivers which feed the Intracoastal Waterway provide wide-eyed onlookers with opportunities to see dolphins, manatees, otters and alligators.
